Autumn in the Brenta Dolomites

Autumn holidays in Andalo: autumn colours, walks, nature and the flavours of Trentino

Are you looking for somewhere to spend an autumn holiday in Trentino?

In Andalo and on the Paganella Plateau, autumn is the perfect time to enjoy the mountains at a more leisurely pace. The woods of the Brenta Dolomites are changing colour, the days are still ideal for walks, and the trails offer unobstructed views of the mountains.

September and October are perfect months for walking, admiring the autumn colours, discovering local flavours and enjoying a few days of relaxation.

If you’re looking for a mountain holiday in autumn, here are some unmissable experiences in Andalo and Paganella.

WHAT TO DO IN ANDALO IN AUTUMN

1. Admiring the autumn colours in the Brenta Dolomites
One of the reasons to choose autumn in the mountains is the changing colours of nature.
Between September and October, the woods of the Paganella Plateau gradually take on shades of yellow, orange and red, creating landscapes quite different from those of summer.
The autumn colours offer an opportunity to explore the trails at a more leisurely pace and observe nature’s transformation up close.
You don’t necessarily need to go on challenging hikes to enjoy them: even a simple walk through the woods can offer stunning views of the Brenta Dolomites.!

2. Walking in the autumn woods
Autumn is a brilliant time to go for walks in Andalo, Molveno and the surrounding area.
You can choose from easy woodland walks, scenic routes and paths linking Andalo to the sites on the Paganella Plateau.
As you walk amongst fir and beech trees, you can admire the colours of the foliage, listen to the rustling of the leaves on the ground and take in the scents of the undergrowth.
For an easy walk, you could choose, for example, the Giro dei Masi di Andalo, the Giro del Lago di Andalo e di Molveno or one of the trails that wind through the woods of Paganella.

3. Hiking in the Brenta Dolomites
If you love walking, autumn is a great time to explore the trails of the Brenta Dolomites.
The Paganella Plateau offers routes of varying difficulty, from family-friendly walks to more challenging hikes for those used to the mountains.
During your walks, you’ll encounter a variety of alpine landscapes: woods, meadows, streams and panoramic views of the Brenta Dolomites.
The area forms part of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, a protected area home to numerous animal species. Spotting wildlife is never guaranteed, but with a bit of luck you may see roe deer, red deer, chamois and numerous species of birds.

4. Cycling along the trails of Paganella
Autumn does not necessarily mark the end of the cycling season.
Depending on the weather conditions and the opening of facilities, Paganella Bike offers the chance to continue enjoying the mountains by bike even in the early months of autumn.
The routes and trails allow you to cycle through woods and enjoy views of the Brenta Dolomites, with itineraries to suit different levels of experience.
Before setting off, it is always advisable to check the opening times of the lifts, the condition of the trails and the services available.

5. Savour the flavours of autumn in Trentino
An autumn holiday in Trentino is also all about the food.
After a walk, you can discover Trentino’s cuisine through traditional dishes prepared with local ingredients.
Cheeses, cured meats, mushrooms, polenta and other local produce reflect a cuisine rooted in the mountains and the changing seasons.
You’ll find restaurants and accommodation where you can sample Trentino specialities and Italian dishes, with a variety of options for families, couples and groups.

6. Discovering Trentino’s wines
Autumn coincides with the grape harvest and can be a good time to learn more about wine production in Trentino.
A visit to a winery allows you to discover how wine is made, learn about the work of the winemakers and taste some of the region’s wines.
An experience to combine with a day spent discovering the flavours of Trentino.

7. Treat yourself to a wellness break
After a day spent walking, you can take some time to relax.
Accommodation providers offer a range of options for those looking for a wellness-focused holiday, with wellness centres, swimming pools, saunas and relaxation areas.
You can choose accommodation with wellness facilities or simply treat yourself to a few hours of tranquillity at the AcquaIN Wellness Centre after a day spent outdoors.

In short: why choose the Paganella Plateau in autumn?

Autumn colours: the woods are ablaze with autumnal hues
Walks: plenty of easy, scenic routes
