"VIA FERRATA"

The Brenta Dolomites are the most pristine Dolomite group of the nine systems recognized by UNESCO. There are no roads to cross the group, there are no residential areas, and there is no  chance to move from the Val Rendena valley and reach the Paganella plateau – or vice versa – but “circumnavigating” the 42 km of peaks and spiers, or by crossing gorges and canyons among the peaks, and on one's legs.

The strenuous, steep and uneven terrain prompetd the need to build climbing aids, such as ladders and ropes; they must  meet the criteria of good safety and make paths relatively easy, albeit in dramatic and exposed situations.

There are the 'Via Ferratas' – or fixed-rope routes; fascinating equipped routes that allow us to climb in the heart of the Brenta, connecting mountain huts at high altitude in a variety of locations and always in close contact with the open air “geological museum” of the Dolomites. The commitment of those who have equipped these rough passages making them accessible to many is amply repaid by the strong emotions that every hiker feels on the peaks of the Brenta: breathtaking views that change at every gorge, deep chasms often smoldering with mist, sometimes extremely narrow walkways made of natural ledges that run horizontally under many peaks, and fixed ladders for ascending. The fixed-rope climbing routes of the Brenta are among the best known of the Dolomites and the fame of the 'Bocchette Centrali', of the 'Brentari' and of the 'Castiglioni' routes, or the 'Orsi' path have now gone beyond the boundaries of the Brenta fascinating hikers from all over the world.
